HTML ImageMapper: Detailed Concepts and Features

• HTML ImageMapper is based on pure <imagemap> technology
• You only need ArcGIS and the ImageMapper extension to publish maps online
• Do all the cartography in ArcGIS. You don't have to re-do it in a GIS server software
• You don't need to be a system or server administrator or a programmer to publish your maps online
• No software needs to be installed on the server.
• No plug-ins are needed on the client's browser
• Everything is preprocessed: this makes the application extremely fast - no more "loading ...." buttons.

The online GIS maps you produce with HTML ImageMapper feature:

• Zoom To Objects (select object from a list and let it display in a higher zoom level)

• search for objects, display and highlight the result in the map (see animation below)

• highlight features on click (like "select" in ArcView) [only InternetExplorer 5.x]

• zoom in five fixed levels from 100 to 1600%
• zoom to objects with automatically generated text-links (now also in version 8.4!)
• adapt the layout of the webpage with stylesheets (now also in version 8.4!)
  
• optional overview map integrated into the map window shows current zoom extent of main window
• click & identify objects
• combining several gis projects into one web page possible by modifying a separate script file (version 8.4!)
• show attributes in a further frame or inside a popup window which is adjustable in size
